School Board Candidate Information
Currently Elected School Board Members
School Board Members are elected at the November 3, 2020 General Election.
The filing deadline for school board candidates to file their affidavit of identity is: July 21, 2020 by 4:00 p.m. Candidates can choose to file nominating petitions or they can pay a $100 non-refundable filing fee along with their Affidavit of Identity.

Filing locations: Genesee County Clerk's Office, all Districts within GISD, except the following:
Burton City Clerk - Atherton Schools, Bendle Schools and Bentley Schools
Flint City Clerk - Flint Schools

Notification Process Following the election, school board candidates who are duly elected are notified by the Genesee County Clerk's Office. Several state laws apply for the process of notification to occur. Therfore, this link provides information on the notification process.
An individual who wishes to seek a school board position with write-in votes is required to file a "Declaration of Intent" by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2020. A Declaration of Intent form can be obtained at the filing location or on line at
