District 3 - Ellen Ellenburg
Genesee County Commissioner Ellen Ellenburg was elected November 2016. She represents the residents of the third District. Her appointments for Genesee County also include Vice-Chair of Human Services Committee, Genesee Health Systems board, Vice-Chair of the Public Works Committee, and alternate member of the MI Works Committee. She is very excited to be working on these committees.
Prior to being elected to the Board of Commissioners, Commissioner Ellenburg proudly served the residents of the City of Burton for 9 years as a City Council woman. While holding this office she was Legislative Chair, representative for Metropolitan Alliance, liaison for Burton Libraries, Public Access committee member, Planning Commission member and she served on the Burton Police Mileage Committee. She has been a Burton Chamber of Commerce Board member for 11 years, Goyette “Heats-On” Program Committee Member for 11 years, past member of the Burton Rotary, a FOP member, Vice-Chair for the Democratic Party and a Platinum Level National League of Cities Member. She also enjoys volunteering for many non-profit Organizations such as the Old News Boys and The United Way Food Drive.
Commissioner Ellenburg was voted Elected Official of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce for service in her community and was awarded The Key to the City by Burton City Mayor, Paula Zelenko. She was a Bendle High School graduate and has lived in Genesee County all her life. She has been married for 43 years to her husband Tom and has 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren. Ellen is a team player, an honest and motivated individual who genuinely wants to make a difference in her community.
