District 5 - Mark Young
As your current Board Chairman, Commissioner Mark Young was elected to serve the residents of the 5th District as County Commissioner in 2012 and assumed office in January 2013. In addition to serving as an elected official, Commissioner young served as the County's Finance Committee Chairman from 2013-2016, Genesee County Land Bank Authority Board member from 2013-2020 and Genesee County's Metropolitan Planning Commission Board member from 2013-2018. At this time, he is serving on the Flint and Genesee Chamber of Commerce Operations Board, Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and Genesee County's COVID-19 task force.
Commissioner Young has previously served as board chairman in 2017 and 2018 when the county experienced the greatest capital improvement project growth in several decades and was an instrumental part in furthering the Dort Highway extension project which is expected to be completed in spring of 2021.
Commissioner Young is a lifelong resident of Genesee County and graduated from Baker College. He is a retired Genesee County Deputy Sheriff and a former Paramedic and a Veteran of the United States Army/Michigan National Guard.
