Explanation of the indicator:
The Genesee County Parks and Recreation Commission manages over 21 parks and open space lands totaling over 11,000 acres. These natural resource-based properties offer year-round recreational and educational opportunities for people of all ages. This chart reflects the satisfaction level of county residents with Genesee County Parks.
The data in the chart above represents the analyses describing the role of Genesee County Parks and Recreation Commission and how it affects in the quality-of-life in our community. The chart reports demographic results illustrating changes in satisfaction between 2001 and 2006 for parks, recreation activities and facilities, and local government services in general. The research for this chart was conducted by Social Systems Research Institute.
Since 2001, the time of the previous quality-of-life report in Genesee County, there has been a concerted effort to improve the County park system. Both facilities and programs have received much attention by the Genesee County Parks and Recreation Commission. It is the Genesee County Parks purpose to employ the data from the 2006 quality of life survey to monitor the changes in citizen satisfaction with their efforts to improve our county parks and recreation facilities since 2001.
