David S Leyton
Genesee County Prosecutor
David Leyton was first elected Genesee County Prosecutor in 2004. He was re-elected without opposition to his second term in 2008 and again in 2012 to his third term. As Prosecutor, he is the chief law enforcement officer in Genesee County.
Prior to being elected Prosecutor, David served 12 years on the Flint Township Board of Trustees, serving first as trustee and later as clerk. Mr. Leyton is the Past President of the Prosecuting Attorney Association of Michigan. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Weiss Advocacy Center. He is also a past President of the Genesee County Bar Association.
On Friday nights in the late summer and fall, you can find David wearing stripes as a Michigan High School Athletic Association football official.
David and Therese have been married for 35 years. Therese is a health educator and columnist. They have four children: Aimee (married to Alan Speck), Andrew, Erica, and Adam. They also have a granddaughter and a grandson.
Randall J Petrides
Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney
Prosecutor David Leyton appointed Randall J. Petrides to the position of Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in January 2005. Mr. Petrides has worked in the prosecutor’s office since 1979 and was formerly the division Chief for the Criminal Division and a felony trial attorney prior to that. He recently received the “Employee of the Year” Award from Genesee County. He is a member of the State and Genesee County Bar Associations. He is active in the Law Day Mock Trial Program.
He and his wife Elizabeth have been married since 1979 and have five children. He is a lifelong resident of the Flint area and currently lives in Grand Blanc. He graduated from Holy Redeemer High School in 1970. He is a 1974 graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and a 1977 graduate of Notre Dame Law School. He is an active member of St. John Vianney Parish in Flint.
John R Potbury
Special Assistant Prosecuting Attorney
John Potbury has served as Special Assistant Prosecuting Attorney under Prosecutor Leyton since 20005. Born in Flint, John is a lifelong resident of Genesee County. A proud graduate of Flint Powers Catholic High School and the University of Michigan-Flint, John went on to graduate cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law. John has been actively involved in the greater Flint community for many years as a member of numerous community organizations and service clubs. His public service background includes being elected to the Flushing City Council and serving as Mayor. John and his wife Sarah, a former elected Mt. Morris City Councilwoman, and their two boys live in Flushing along with their family dog. They enjoy spending some of their free time as a family visiting local libraries, Flushing County Park, Crossroads Village, and vacationing in northern Michigan.
Amy Alexander has been with the office for 15 years, working as the Office Manager since 2012. She is married to Eli Alexander and has 3 children and 3 step-children. Her oldest son is in the Air Force stationed at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska. Her step daughter graduated from Davison High School in 2014 and will be attending Mott Community College this fall. For the 2015 school year she will have four active Davison students; her son, and her step-son are seniors, her other step-son is in 9th grade, and her daughter is in 8th grade. Amy and her family attend Central Church of the Nazarene in Flint.
Tamara S Johns
Prosecutor David Leyton appointed Tamara Johns to the position of Administrative Secretary in January 2005. Prior to this appointment, she was a legal assistant at the law firm of Leyton & Kasle. She graduated with honors in 1986 from Mott Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science, Para-Legal Technology. She has worked as a legal assistant since 1984. She is also a Certified Electronic Recorder having passed the state exam in October, 2013. She has two adult children, Brad Horton, a senior at West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, California, and Megan Horton, a Nail Technician in Grand Blanc. She is married to Trever Johns, owner of Finish It Custom Carpentry. They are members of Landmark Baptist Church in Clio.
