Genesee County Clerks Office
Genealogy Research Services
Fridays ONLY 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
The Flint Genealogical Society (FGS) occupies space in our office each Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The members of the Society volunteer their time to help citizens search old marriage and death records and obtain copies of those records.
Citizens are welcome to visit our office during the above listed hours to work directly with the volunteers. On occasion our offices are closed on Fridays. If you are traveling a long distance, we recommend that you call in advance to verify that we will be open on the Friday you plan to visit.
Written requests are also processed by the genealogy volunteers. Written requests should be sent to:
Genesee County Clerk's Office
900 S. Saginaw St.
Flint, MI 48502
Please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) with your request.
Genealogy volunteers are able to access marriage and death records dating back to 1867. They can also access birth records provided that the birth occurred more than 110 years ago.
The fee to obtain copies of records through our genealogy volunteers is $3.00 per record. These records are not certified and can only be used for genealogy purposes.
If you need any further information regarding the genealogy services that are provided, you may contact our office any Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at (810) 257-3225 and ask to speak with a Genealogy Volunteer.
The Flint Genealogy Society's website (http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mifgs/) also has indices to early records
