How To Become A Precinct Delegate Candidate
A person who wishes to seek a precinct delegate position must file a Precinct Delegate Affidavit of Identity with the clerk of hisor her county of residence. Petition signatures are not required. NOTE: City and Township Clerks are no longer allowed to accept the filing of a Precinct Delegate Affidavit of Identity. An affidavit form designed exclusively for use by precinct delegate candidates can be obtained at Genesee County Clerk's office or on line at http://www.michigan.gov/documents/Aff-ID_Precnt_139901_7.pdf
Filing deadline for Precinct Delegate Affidavit of Identity: Not later than 4:00 p.m. on May 8, 2018.
Withdrawal deadline: Not later than 4:00 p.m. on May 11, 2018.

Pursuant to MCL 168.623a, the county chairperson of each poltical party qualified to participate in the statewide August Primary certifies to the county election commission on or before April 1st the number of precinct delegate positions to appear under the party's vignette in each precinct in the county. Our office has not yet received this information for 2018. For reference purposes, the following link is a listing of the available positions as they were listed for 2016.

An individual who wishes to seek a precinct delegate position with write-in votes is required to file a "Declaration of Intent" with their city or township clerk by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018.
