Commissioner Jamie W Curtis - District 3
County Commissioner Jamie W. Curtis was elected to his first term on the Genesee County Board of Commissioners in November 2006. He represents the citizens of the third County Commissioner District. In January of 2010, Commissioner Curtis was elected Chairperson of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners. He is currently in his fifth year as Chairperson.
Prior to his election to the Board of Commissioners, Commissioner Curtis served as the Vice-President of the Burton City Council and chairman of the Legislative Committee. He is also on the Metropolitan Alliance and an advocate of the Genesee Health Plan.
Commissioner Curtis is a retired skilled trade millwright from Flint Power Train North, where he was employed for 30 years. While working for General Motors, he was a member of U.A.W. Local 599 and served in various elected positions in the union bargaining unit. He is active in the U.A.W. as a retiree.
Commissioner Curtis has one son, Tyler, who attends Kearsley schools. Commissioner Curtis is active in the Shriner Mini Clinics assisting children with orthopedic and burn injuries. Commissioner Curtis has also attended Mott-Apprenticeship programs and the Baker Community College-Medical Billing program.
