District 9 - David Martin
David Martin was elected 9th District County Commissioner in 2016 and is Chairperson of the Community and Economic Development Committee. David resides in the City of Davison where he graduated Davison High School in 1979. After high school, he enlisted in the Air Force retiring as a Master Sergeant. Returning to Davison, David served on the city council from 2009-2013.
David’s post-military career has centered on the contract security industry where he served as security services director at the Pontiac Silverdome until it closed. He also held security positions in several automotive related corporations. Recently, David managed the nation-wide VirSec™ (Virtual Security) Operations Center in Troy, Michigan. David holds a degree in Homeland Security from Keiser University.
Community involvement includes Past Commander of Davison American Legion Post, Flint Blue Badge volunteer, Past Master of Davison Masonic Lodge, and Leadership Core at First Baptist Church, Davison.
He currently serves as Command Sergeant Major, 6th Battalion, State of Michigan Volunteer Defense Force at Camp Grayling, Michigan where he is CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) certified and a qualified Military Emergency Management Specialist.
